The Faces of iGA Istanbul Airport
With a visit from Mrs. Emine Erdogan, the "From Waste To Art" project, which was carried out by İGA within the scope of the works of Environment and Sustainability, was launched at Istanbul Airport. From Waste to Art Project includes numerous practices, such as recycling the waste that arose during the construction of Istanbul Airport, waste reduction and increase in awareness of waste. By collaborating with artists from numerous fields of art and academians, all kinds of waste that arose during the construction of the Airport were turned into works of art in 4 different categories, such as "Flower", "Fashion", "Sculpture", and "Useable Product".
Within this project that has been launched in February, with 800 college students from 8 Universities, 40 women and children who live in the nearby neighborhoods, 31 people that consisted of artists and opinion leaders, 34 workshops were held in total. As a result of the workshops, 39 works of art have been made from 100 tones of waste. Some of the works have been in the exhibition at the airport since April 7, 2019. The earnings from the auction were donated to ÇODEM.
