Seçkin Pirim’s sculptures, which merge his milestone works from his career with his latest creations, will be exhibited for the first time at Baksı Museum. The exhibition, titled “Timely- Timeless”, opened on June 11, 2025, and features more than twenty of Pirim’s works in various techniques and scales.
Mainly sponsored by İGA ART, the Culture and Art platform of Istanbul Airport, “Timely-Timeless” exhibition is taking place in and outdoors of the Baksı Museum, located in the village of Bayraktar, 45 kilometres from the city of Bayburt. In addition to the sculptures, the exhibition will also include models and studies that document the artist’s creative process in his studio.
Born in Ankara in 1977, Seçkin Pirim invites viewers on an inner journey through his sculptures, which explore themes of self-reconnection through the rhythmic repetition of forms crafted from diverse materials.
In this exhibition, the artist gives form to a philosophy of movement; progressing “from the one to the whole” through layered surfaces crafted from plexiglass, paper, marble, and aluminium. Pirim’s works, marked by his formal precision, are also interpreted as a form of emotional engineering; one that surrenders to a metaphysical flow through time and space. Encountering the astronomical and universal landscape of Baksı, these works captivate viewers by simultaneously conveying both an existential lightness and an intense inner motion.
Seçkin Pirim, whose signature has been shaped under the influence of architect Cengiz Bektaş, poet, critic and architect Ali Cengizkan, and sculptor Bihrat Mavitan, completed his undergraduate and graduate studies at the Sculpture Department of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. Now based in both Istanbul and London, Pirim has exhibited widely in institutions such as Borusan Art, Pera Museum, Museum Haus Konstruktiv, and Saatchi Gallery. He has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions on both local and international platforms.
Professor Dr. Hüsamettin Koçan shared his thoughts on the exhibition:
“Baksı is not merely a museum; it’s an effort to bring what is distant closer. Seçkin Pirim’s exhibition is a powerful artistic manifestation of that idea. His layered works connect deeply with the pluralistic and profound thinking we try to foster here. Each form, each surface, evokes a different time, a different feeling. With this exhibition, we’re once again reminded of how art can transform us. The tradition of hosting sculpture exhibitions at Baksı has a long history. Seçkin’s works powerfully continue that tradition, creating a strong connection with both the museum’s indoor spaces and the natural landscape around it.”
A catalogue featuring an interview between Evrim Altuğ and Seçkin Pirim, along with Altuğ’s reflections on the exhibition, has also been prepared.
The “Timely-Timeless” exhibition will remain on view at Baksı Museum through November 3, 2025.
